Linghong Guo (Coach Anna) – Team Coach

Anna is the third child and the only daughter of the Guo’s gymnastics family. She began her interest in gymnastics at a mere age of 3. The fact that both her parents were coaches gave her the opportunity to follow them around during class time while slowly picking up skills by watching and playing around. Around 8 years of age, she began participating in low leveled competitions. She was then recruited into Ba Yi Sports Team the following year for her outstanding efforts. This was the beginning of her official training as a gymnast. At age 15, Anna represented China in the 1982 International Championships in Greece and received Gold medals in Vault, Bars, and Beams and earned herself the title of All-Around Champion. In 1983, she was selected to be a competitor in a Top 18 National Competition, where she placed in the top 3’s. For Anna, gymnastics is the foundation for her life and the definition of her existence. Pursuing her passion for gymnastics, she attended college to perfect her coaching skills. In America, she has coached at West Coast Elite Gymnastics for over 8 years. During her time there, she developed students to the National Level in both Level 9 and 10 as well as numerous athletes who have received scholarships from Universities such as Yale University. Currently, Anna is serving as a Team Coach at her own family business, World Elite Gymnastics.

 

Linyao Guo(Coach Leo) – Team Coach

Leo is the youngest son of the Guo’s gymnastics family. Ever since he was two-years-old, Leo has had gymnastics as a part of his life. Similarly to Anna, he slowly learned the basics of gymnastics until he was 8, which was when he officially began his training. In 1992, he was a silver and bronze medalist in the Olympic Games. He has received medals in other numerous international events and even claiming the title of World Champion in 1994. He attended Beijing Sports College, where he became the assistant head coach for his college gymnastics program. During the 29th Olympic Games, he was part of the Organizing Committee. As a technical operation manager, he was responsible for ensuring that the equipment were in regulation with the IF standards. After the event, he was honored with Excellent Staff of the Organizing Committee.

Gary Gao - General Manager & Special Events Coordinator

Gary, from a young age, has accumulated over 10 years of experience in planning and management, prior to managing World Elite Gymnastics, from his church. He has grown up around a family of 6 uncles and aunts whom are all gymnasts. Since he was little, Gary has been in and out of gymnastics facilities every day. He studied Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Finance at California State University, Fullerton. Starting as an office assistant at age 18, Gary soon worked his way up the ladder to becoming the department manager for his insurance company in the span of 3 years. He hes successfully helped host many competitions including the 2016 SoCal T&T State Championships and other invitational meets. Currently, he’s not only a USAG certified coach, but also a USAG certified judge in Trampoline & Tumbling Gymnastics.

Limei Xiao (Coach Niki) – Team Coach / Recreational Coach

Niki started practicing rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 6. During her teen years, she became an elite athlete and was accepted into China’s National Rhythmic Gymnastics team. She’s received numerous national competition titles such as national champion. She has participated in numerous international championships where she received countless medals for her superb performance. In 2002 she was certified by “Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique”(FIG) as a referee to be an international and national judge for rhythmical gymnastics. In 2008, she was a part of the 29th Olympic Games Organizing Committee. Aside from achieving a high status in gymnastics, she also has a degree in computer science.

Xinke Guo (Coach Garik) - Team Coach / Recreational Coach

At the age of 6, Garik started enduring the extensive trainings of both Wushu and gymnastics. At an early age, he trained and competed in gymnastics and attained numerous awards. In Wushu, Garik has received countless both gold and silver medals between 2003 and 2007. Included in this is a Gold Medal in Men’s Southern Fist(Nan Quan) at the World Championships for Chinese Martial Arts. He begin his coaching career in gymnastics and martial arts in 2007. As a naturally open person, Garik is easy to approach and work with well with children. He has coached and trained at many well-known parkour facilities all over China. He hopes to bring his knowledge of gymnastics, Chinese Wushu, and parkour to the next generation of athletes.

Paiton Grayson - Team Coach / Recreational Coach

Paiton began her gymnastics journey in 2008 at the age of 14, competing in the AAU artistic gymnastics program. She later transitioned into trampoline and tumbling where she still trains and competes here at World Elite Gymnastics. Her love for gymnastics inspired her to begin coaching in 2012 for both Artistic and T&T. She currently coaches for a number of different classes including the Trampoline and Tumbling compulsory team and Artistic compulsory team. She hopes to inspire kids and to teach them that no matter how old you are, if you work hard, stay disciplined and trust in yourself, no dream is too big and no goal is unattainable!

Marlene Grayson - Office Staff / Recreational Coach

Marlene Grayson is one of the oldest of 12 kids and has a very extensive background in care-providing for kids of all ages along with children who have special needs. Marlene also attended and graduated Nursing school and is currently working on certification. Marlene came to admire the sport many years ago through her sister, Paiton, who is a gymnast, and has been a fan ever since. She is currently coaching You & I and Mini Elites classes here at World Elite.

Antonio Surmenko (Coach Toni)- Team Coach / Recreational Coach

Antonina “Toni” was a former member of the USSR and Ukrainian National Gymnastics Team. She also received a Master of Sports from the Ukrainian Ministry for Affairs of Youth and Sports. In 1999, Antonina graduated from National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine. Antonina is a specialist in choreography, and now one of our artistic team coaches. She has coached from compulsory levels to optional levels.

Erik Mendoza - Team Coach / Recreational Coach

For Erik, gymnastics was a sport that he had dreamed of practicing as he grew up. He would often watch various gymnastics events as a child such as the Olympics. However due to various circumstances, he was unable to train until he became an adult. Since Erik’s coaching career began, he trained numerous athletes including national championship boys artistic. Erik enjoyed helping those who were around his level whenever possible. Eventually, this sparked his passion for coaching which eventually led to his career as both a team and recreational coach for World Elite Gymnastics.
